3 Things To Keep In Mind About SEO Ranking | From Best SEO Company in Cape Town | Honey Whale

October 19, 2022

The SEO space just like the modern world is constantly changing and adapting, and in order for your page to be seen you need to be in the know. A well managed website gets more traffic, that means more leads and sales overtime. Today we'll be sharing some key factors you need to keep in mind in order to dominate search engines.

Security

Without a doubt the most important factor to keep in mind is a secure and accessible website. How do you get a safe and accessible website ? it's quite easy actually, all you need is the right type of URL, one that is easy for google bots to reach and crawl. To help these bots out, you need to create your website with a good website builder, a robot.txt file which makes it possible for the bots to look for your site information, and finally a site map with a list of all your pages.

Technical SEO

It's not only important to manage the tech side of SEO, you also need to pay attention to the technical writing aspect. Some important things to look out for when doing SEO is:

  1. Use keywords and keyphrases in page titles, as this is where google looks first to determine the relevancy of your content to the search being performed.
  2. Use different types of headers, by using different headers for your main headings and subheadings it creates a hierarchy of importance for google to compare to the search being performed.
  3. Use a keyword or keyphrase in images to show google why the image is relevant

User Experience

Rank brain is a signal google's AI uses to better rank web pages. It uses signals from your page such as CTR, bounce rate and dwell time to come up with its conclusion. This is useful information as if your CTR and dwell time is low and bounce rate is high, that means your content is not relevant to what people are searching for and this could be because you've targeted the wrong keywords. Now that you know you've targeted the wrong key words you can go ahead and make amends, and improve your campaign.

Links

The Web is built on Links, everything on the web can be linked or is linked, so naturally the use of links in our content is important to the ranking of your page. There are three types of links

  • Inbound links
  • Outbound links
  • Internal links

Inbound links

Google uses inbound links to determine how good and relevant your content is, an inbound link is when someone else inserts a link leading to one of your pages in their content. The best case scenario is for Authoritative sites to be the ones giving you your inbound links as Google will see this and assume that your sites content is really good and relevant. You can use tools like SEM rush to find your inbound links

Outbound links

Outbound links are used to show your readers you're doing some quality research. You should not be spamming outbound links everywhere as this will not boost your authority ranking but only link the ones relevant to your content.

Internal links

Internal links are a great way to spread authority across all your pages, for example if one of your pages is already an authoritative page by inserting some internal links to other pages of your site, you will boost the traffic going to those other pages thus boosting its authority.
